* Why: Showcase the unique, vibrant, exciting businesses and experiences available in the MidCity Businesses District by featuring shopping specials, sidewalk cafes, and cultural attractions.

What¹s Happening on August 4th and 4th:

The Dog Days of August festival weekend kicks off with Logan Hardware, Garden District and the 14th & U Farmers Market and then the fabulous specials at dozens of businesses where they will be opening at 10:00am and
11:00am.

Live music, artist displays, cool drinks, shopping specials of up to 75% Off or more, refreshment stands, bbq¹s, balloons, Dog Rescue Adoptions, Grand Openings, sidewalk café¹s, lunch specials, lemonade stands are only some of the activities and events taking place.

There will also be the Second Annual Development Showcase produced by the Cardozo Shaw Neighborhood Association at 1436 U Street, NW that will feature individual development projects as well as streetscape plans for both 14th Street and U Street, as well as conceptual new uses for the Reeves Building at 14th & U.

While you are out and when you need a break from the heat you can visti the African American Civil War Memorial and museum, purchase theatre tickets for the Source or Studio Theatres, and find out about what live bands and fine dining available as you wind down your day after hours of bargain shopping, good fun, and exploration of everything there is to experience on U Street, 14th Street, P Street, and in the entirety of MidCity.
